The nominees (in alphabetical order) are:
Nomination 1: Ian Wright
Ian is nominated for his on-going dedication to the club, and in particular for an exceptional contribution during the Covid pandemic. Between March 2020 and October 2021 Ian led far more rides than any other member. The rides he led were Saturday social rides, which lifted our spirits during those bleak months and helped keep the club going during its lowest point ever. Since then, Ian has continued to be a regular leader of those rides, which are a great way of attracting new riders to the club.
Nomination 2: Nigel Deakin
Nigel is nominated for his work as Website Officer, building and maintaining the CTC Cambridge club website. Lockdown saw Nigel undertake two big projects: the Route library and the Booked rides options. The Route library is of particular note: this was an ambitious project to create an accessible way for everyone to access our recommended routes. It started as a library of recommended routes for solo rides during lockdown, but it is now a key tool for our leaders and is still being further expanded to include more features and more of our ongoing club rides.
Nomination 3: Ray Miller
Ray is nominated for his work as deputy runs secretary, especially his work to encourage and foster the restart and recovery of our club rides after lockdown. Ray was responsible for starting and leading the easier Loiterers rides, strongly defending that historic name. He also organised a series of on-line meeting and pub socials as a way for our leaders to meet and discuss ongoing matters. And last but not least he helped Nigel and Rupert to create our route library contributing some specialist code and some interesting routes.
Nomination 4: Sue Howell
Sue is nominated for leading the organisation of club events at Wicken and Haslingfield in 2021, 2022 and 2023. These were important in bringing the club back together again after the pandemic, and were well attended and enjoyed by all. Sue's well-organised and unflappable approach to preparing for the events was the key to their success. Many other club members pitched in and helped on the days of the events themselves, but Sue's good humour, energy and the positive attitude that characterised all the work that went on behind the scenes to plan and prepare made things go easily and without stress for everyone else on the day.
Nomination 5: Susan Goodrich
Susan is nominated, for her work in getting bicycles to Ukrainian guests in our community. Susan has co-ordinated between CTC Cambridge and her local team in obtaining bikes, getting them roadworthy, and getting them to the right people. She has helped our Ukrainian guests by leading small group rides, and by showing riders safe routes to get to schools and workplaces. Susan has worked tirelessly at this project for over a year, and we are grateful that she has been instrumental in showing Ukrainian guests such a warm welcome and has given a practical demonstration of the generosity of our club.
