We are pleased to announce that we will be restarting some club rides from Sunday 12th July.
There will be just a few rides to get us started. Due to the current restrictions, these rides will be restricted to a maximum of five riders plus the leader. Because of this restriction you must contact the leader in advance of the ride to book a place. We've written a short guide to explain how we expect these new arrangements to work: please read our Guide for Riders joining rides while Covid-19 restrictions apply.
These new rides are planned as "bring-your-own" rides where you bring your own food and drink. The ride will stop somewhere nice for a picnic, a rest and a chat. Some rides may visit a takeaway cafe or a village shop but there may still be no toilets or other facilities, so self-sufficiency is recommended. Check the distance and adjust your rations to suit - e.g. just a snack for the shorter rides.
Adding more rides is dependent on getting more leaders to volunteer. So this also a gentle request to any registered leaders to email Rupert (contact details) if they would like to lead a booked club ride in the near future. We are taking this slowly - we understand that some may not want to lead with these restrictions. Leaders are also being asked to help design the future rides and to suggest different rides and different days - we are not expecting to simply recreate the old weekly rides.
Lastly, a gentle reminder to encourage you all to continue with your informal rides. We hope we can build up to a steady flow of official rides but rider numbers are going to be limited so it will help if we can continue to have those extra informal rides.
