Nigel writes: Tonight was another long warm midsummer's evening, warm, humid and overcast with very little wind. My companions for tonight's ride were James, Neil, Jim and Gareth.
We set off east from Brookside, across Parker's Piece and along the river to Fen Ditton. We continued east, through Quy and Bottisham to Swaffham Bulbeck, where we turned south-east towards Dullingham. As we approached Quy we met Eva, Carol and Jackie who were having a separate ride but would be meeting us at the pub later.

From Dullingham we turned south-west onto Balsham Lane which we followed all the way to Weston Colville where we joined the B1052 to West Wratting. Along the way we were joined by Phil H who had ridden out to meet us.
Despite the cloudy weather it was a lovely quiet evening, with very little wind and very little traffic, though the warm humidity was just very slightly oppressive.
From West Wratting we enjoyed a fast and enjoyable descent to Six Mile Bottom from where it was just two miles to Little Wilbraham and a further one mile to Great Wilbraham, where we stopped for drinks and bowls of chips at The Carpenter's Arms. A few minutes later we were joined by Eva, Carol and Jackie and the nine of us had a pleasant half hour discussing Eva's recent End to End and the forthcoming Tour de France before setting off back towards Cambridge.

I rode home via Fulbourn and Cherry Hinton, with the sun setting as we approached Fulbourn. I arrived home at 9.50pm, having cycled
34 miles.
