At the end of an overcast, humid and very warm day, three riders turned up for this evening's ride to Barton.
Our route was similar to the one we took on
5th May. We started off by heading south out of Cambridge via Trumpington and the Shelfords to Whittlesford, where we turned north-west to Newton and Harston.
At Harston we took a short off-road diversion via the river to Haslingfield.
From Haslingfield we continued north-west through Harlton and the Eversdens to Kingston, where we turned east along the B1046 to Barton, where we stopped for a drink at The Hoops.
We then returned back to Cambridge. I was home by 9.30pm, having cycled about
25 miles.

A heron flew over us as we cycled down Trumpington Street, and there was a kestrel hovering by the road from Toft to Comberton. Lots of swallows and swifts about, too.
